Kathryn Kunert is a native of Mason City, Iowa and graduated from UNI with a bachelor’s in public administration. In 1996 she joined MidAmerican Energy Company and currently is the vice president, economic connections and integration. Kathryn is very involved in the economic development community. She serves as a board member for the Iowa City Area Development Group, the Greater Cedar Valley Alliance, Siouxland Initiative, Greater Des Moines Partnership, Capital Crossroads, Cultivation Corridor, Institute for Decision Making and the Mid America EDC, a ten-state regional economic development organization and is a Past President and member of the Professional Developers of Iowa. Kunert also is a Past President and member of the Rotary DMAM as well as a board member for the United Way of Central Iowa and BRAVO. Kunert is a member of the Electrical Examiners Board – Appointed by Governor Branstad in 2013 for a three-year term and the Iowa Innovation Corporation – Appointed by Governor Branstad in 2015 to serve a four-year term and most recently appointed to serve a four-year term starting in 2015 to the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council. Kathryn is a graduate of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute, a Forty Under 40 class member of 2002, a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy in 2014 and named a Woman of Influence by the Business Record in 2015.
